The Toyota Hilux is an unbreakable vehicle with a tough exterior, the ability to carry large loads, and a smooth petrol engine. On average, this Toyota engine will last between 250,000 and 300,000 kilometres. This means that the petrol engine in the Hilux has an average life of 14-18 years. The 3RZ-FE engine was developed in 1994 and became not only the most powerful but also the most successful example of the "RZ" series of engines. Toyota designers were able to maximise the benefits of the I4 inline 4-cylinder layout (low manufacturing cost, simplicity, and reliability of operation) while minimising its drawbacks due to the use of complex balance shafts in the design.
As a result, Toyota received a reasonably powerful and reasonably priced petrol engine, which was successfully installed on the company's light commercial vehicles for 12 years both domestically and in other automotive markets around the world (Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East).
To that extent, the 3RZ-FE Toyota Hilux engine is extremely dependable. Major engine components such as the block, cylinder heads, and internals are extremely durable and should never fail.
